REMOTE LEARNING

Please note this page will continue to be updated over the coming weeks as departments add more resources for pupils to access at home.

Secondary school senior pupils will want to minimise the impact of school closure on their exam performance. Materials such as past exam papers and other teaching aids can be accessed on-line either from Glow, the school’s web site or directly from the SQA site.

Many National 4, 5, Higher and Advanced Higher courses are also supported through the Scholar program .  Pupils will find comprehensive online study guides, interactive learning materials and activities, assessments and revision packs on a range of subjects.  Access is controlled by unique log in and password which pupils will get from their school. Pupils can also access Scholar through Glow without the unique login password (Only Glow Username & Password required).

Pupils who have access to their Glow accounts will find a range of information provided by their own teachers in some of the subject areas that will be very helpful to provide continuity for their learning.   Pupils may know these as TEAMS, which is part of GLOW.  Class teachers may have created a class TEAM to share work directly with the class. We have created a TEAM for each year group. These have been split into channels for each subject.

Should any pupil require their GLOW login details then please  e-mail: technology@calderhead.n-lanark.sch.uk .

To access TEAMS on your phone or tablet.  Download the Teams app then use your Glow email address and glow password to login to the app.  Your Glow email address is your glow login followed by @glow.sch.uk.  Remember that you can also download and install Microsoft office on your home computer by clicking on the Office 365 Home Tab on the Glow homepage.

Revision tips for pupils (and parents and carers)

With this year’s exams fast approaching, there are some great revision tips and advice contained in the links for pupils on our Study Skills page.

CHS Parent Study GuideParentzone Scotland also has a supporting study section providing advice on how parents and carers can support  pupils preparing for exams, including managing their time, getting organised, studying and keeping well.

Developing the Young Workforce Event – 22 January 2018

careers logoAt Calderhead, we are keen to encourage pupils to plan for their future and explore all opportunities and career paths, including higher education, further education, employment, apprenticeships, training or volunteering. We will be hosting a Developing the Young Workforce careers event in the assembly hall on Tuesday, 22nd January from 5.30pm until 7.30pm.

Our careers event will give both parents and pupils an opportunity to meet representatives from universities, colleges and a range of career options including local and national employers. Each will have their own stall and will be delighted to answer any questions you might have about the options and opportunities they provide. This will be of particular interest to S2 and S4/5 pupils who will be making option choices soon and to pupils looking to secure a positive destination in the near future. However, everyone is welcome to come along.

Christmas Assembly

Photo of Christmas baubleStaff and pupils enjoyed a whole school Christmas Assembly this morning. David and Lynn introduced all our talented acts, with performances from the school choir; our resident pipes and drums; and our rock band fresh from their success at NLC Rockfest’s Battle of the Bands. We also heard from Jennifer Deighan on flute; Andrew Prentice on trombone and Kenzie Steel and on trumpet; and Jack Stewart and Jennifer Deighan singing a beautiful rendition of ‘Real Love’. Shae Carroll, Eileen Boyle and Adam Ferguson also read the Christmas story for us.
