Pupils in S1 and S2 are taking part in a Readathon to raise money for new books and equipment for the English Department. The event will run in school the week beginning Monday 10th October and pupils will be encouraged to continue to read at home during the October holiday (Monday 17th to 21st October).
Sponsorship forms have been issued and it is hoped that all our S1 and S2 pupils will take part and be sponsored by friends and family to raise funds. Pupils will also have the opportunity to win fabulous prizes! The Readathon will encourage reading in a fun and relaxed atmosphere and we would ask that you support our pupils.
We are still looking for donations for the shoe box appeal and the deadline has been extended to 18th November 2016.
We are looking for toiletries, toys, gloves, hats, scarves and any other suitable items that would be a welcome gift for children and adults. Sweets are also welcome but the expiry dates must be seen and must not expire before 2018. No chocolate, biscuits or cakes please. If you prefer to donate money instead that would also be welcome , as postage for the boxes needs to be paid.

There is a proposal to set up a section of Law and District AAC in Shotts, based in Calderhead High School. There will be a parents/supports meeting in Calderhead High School at 6:30pm on Wednesday 28th September. We ask that if anyone who thinks they can offer support to come along.
Also if you think your child may be interested in taking part then please come along so that we can judge the likely success of this initiative. We think that this is a great opportunity to work with a very successful and nurturing club as part of our expanding sports hub.

Every year the school runs a UCAS class which assists our S6 students in applying to University. While the students are given time during the school day we encourage them to complete the application in their own time and for parents to be involved in this process.
A brief information session for parents and carers will be held in the school on Monday, 5th September 2016 at 6pm to go through the process and to allow you to discuss concerns or issues you may have.
