NLC Encounters Festival

Autism Awareness Week
World Autism Awareness Week runs from 27th March to 2nd April.
Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with and relates to other people, and how they experience the world around them.
We’ve been marking World Autism Awareness Week in the school by showing videos in the school library and providing specialist training for staff.

Scottish Youth Parliament
Following the recent Scottish Youth Parliament elections, we are pleased to announce that the successful candidates who will be representing the Airdrie/Shotts consistency are Sarah Quinn and Chris Costello.

Safer Internet Day
Safer Internet Day 2017 will be celebrated globally on Tuesday, 7th February with the slogan ‘Be the change: Unite for a better internet’.
Coordinated in the UK by the UK Safer Internet Centre the celebration sees hundreds of organisations get involved to help promote the safe, responsible and positive use of digital technology for children and young people.
The day offers the opportunity to highlight positive uses of technology and to explore the role we all play in helping to create a better and safer online community.

Sloshathon – 22 January
North Lanarkshire Council is trying to set a World Guiness Book of record attempt on Sunday 22nd January 2017 at 11am in the Ravenscraig sports facility.
In order to break the record they need 600 people sloshing.
The money raised will support the Westfield Health British Transport games being held in North Lanarkshire 27th July-30th July 2017.
