The key purpose of this subject is to develop learners’ administrative and IT skills and, ultimately, to enable them to contribute to the effective functioning of organisations in administrative positions.
The courses are designed for those who are interested in administration and the practical uses of IT and want to develop their administrative and IT skills further. Learners will develop a range of both generic and subject-specific skills, including the ability to use the following IT applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and desktop publishing; the ability to use technology, including the internet, for electronic communication and investigation; and the ability to organise, manage and communicate information.
Skills and knowledge that learners will be able to develop:
• skills, qualities and attributes required of administrators;
• skills in using the following IT applications: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and desktop publishing
• skills in organising and supporting events;
• skills in using technology, including the internet, for electronic communication and investigation
• knowledge and understanding of key legislation affecting both organisations and employees;
• knowledge and understanding of the benefits to organisations of good customer care;
• skills in organising, managing and communicating information in largely familiar administrative contexts;
• problem-solving, team-working and using initiative.
