Transition to Secondary School

Our feeder secondary school is Coltness High. We are very proud of the strong links we have with Coltness High and the transition we have in place. Staff from Coltness High work closely with staff from Calderbridge to ensure the best support is in place for all children before moving on.

Primary 6 and Primary 7  receive sports coaching throughout the year, as part of the CSLA (Community Sports Leader Award) programme, run by Mr. Brian Pettigrew. 5th and 6th year pupils coach our children in rugby, basketball and badminton. Our children then have the opportunity to take part in a sports festival with our feeder primary schools. This gives our children the opportunity to work with the staff and pupils from Coltness as well as meeting friends from other schools.

Our children take part in an annual Maths Marathon, where they have the opportunity to use their skills in a variety of puzzles, games and challenges. Staff from the Maths department visit our children to give them the opportunity to try some challenges before the event. This gives our children the opportunity to meet staff from the Maths department and experience some of the Maths challenges they will try in 1st year!

Visit from Mr Farr (Depute Head Teacher)

Mr Farr visits our children before their move to secondary school. This gives our children to ask Mr Farr any questions and discuss any worries they have about high school. Mr Farr also talks about visiting Coltness, using a timetable and some of the experiences the children will have when they move to secondary school.

2 day Visit

Our children attend Coltness High School for two days in May. During these two days, our children follow a full timetable and have the opportunity to experience what high school will be like. This is a great chance for our children to familiarise themselves with the building and new classes before the start their journey in August.
