Course Intro

Pupils in S2 visit the Technical Department once a week. During this time they follow a broad, general education involving a wide variety of technical tasks in addition to developing their knowledge and understanding of the subject. This is a follow on from the S1 course, whereby pupils develop their basic skills from S1 in preparation for study in S3.

Design & Manufacture: Pupils design and manufacture a wide variety of products from wood, metal and plastic. They learn how to use a wide variety of hand tools and workshop safety.

Graphic Communication: Pupils learn how to freehand sketch as well as produce traditional technical drawings. They learn about colour theory, logo design as well as develop their rendering skills

CAD (Computer Aider Design): Pupils undertake a variety of 2-D & 3-D computer based tasks using software such as 2-D Design, Autodesk Inventor & Serif Pageplus
