National 4 P.E

Expectations:

Pupils undertaking a National Qualification at Level 4 can expect to gain the following skills from the course:

· Develop approaches to enhance physical performance in a range of skills across 4 activities: Badminton, Trampolining, Table Tennis and Netball.

· Develop knowledge and understanding of factors that impact on performance

· Develop the capacity to monitor, record and evaluate their own performance development through a training programme

 

Required Requisite:

Pupils should have a keen interest in sport and physical activity as the course is practically based. Their ability to work in groups and give constructive feedback would be desirable as pupils will regularly be required to complete peer/self-observations. Pupils should also be able to write descriptive and explanatory answers and be prepared to invest time at home in order to develop their written answers for their National 4 Portfolio Unit.

 

Assessment:

Performance:

Pupils must perform at the required standard in two activities of their choice. One of these should be a school based activity (netball, badminton, table tennis, trampolining, football).

Added Value Unit:

At National 4 candidates will complete an added value unit where they must prepare for carry out and review a performance in a physical activity.

Progression:

Successful pupils may wish to continue their study in the Physical Education department by undertaking one of the following:

· National 5 Physical Education.

· PE Life-Skills (level 5).
