
Life cycles
Eggs of the toads are usually seen in march and April sometimes you usually see toads giving birth in the water.
When spawning,the female releases double strings of fertilised eggs among waterweeds. One female will produce around 1,500 eggs.
Toad spawns usually take 3 to 4 weeks to hatch.
Tadpoles mature in around 16 weeks, gradually losing their tails and growing legs as the develop into toad let’s. They usually leave their pond in May.

Toads are found in gardens sometimes like to hide in a hole with a rock over it so there pray doesn’t attack and you have to listen carefully for there croaking near ponds in wet woodland.
- Toads have dry watery skin and shorter legs than frogs.
- Toads crawl and frogs jump in short jumps.
- Frogs have a more angular head and shape compared to toads.
- Only frogs have a dark patch behind their eye.
- Frogs lay their spawn in a clump, whilst toads lay a long string of frogs.
