After some ups and downs during our Clyde in the Classroom project, today was the final farewell to our trout. In a colder location (the old library office) our second batch of eggs successfully hatched and many survived to be released into the river.
Yesterday, Primary 5 went on an educational excursion to New Lanark World Heritage Site. It was to enhance their interdisciplinary learning about life as a child two hundred years ago, compared to the rights of a child across the world now in the twenty-first century. They impressed the tour guides with their knowledge of how Robert Owen was ‘ahead of his time’ and performed well in the 1820s classroom. The
Primary 6 have been very busy this term. In the first week after the winter break we visited Glasgow Science Centre for the launch of our Brown Trout project by The Clyde River Foundation. There was time to: explore the interactive activity floors, learn about the River Clyde and some of the creatures that live in the water, have lunch and go to the shop! Look out later this week
Yesterday, Primary 5 had a very interesting and informative trip to the Lanarkshire Mosque in Bellshill, which links to our learning on comparing places of worship for our R.M.E. One of the three Iman showed us around the mosque which can hold up to two hundred and fifty people for prayers. He tested our knowledge on the Five Pillars of Islam of which we have a greater understanding now.
