After some ups and downs during our Clyde in the Classroom project, today was the final farewell to our trout. In a colder location (the old library office) our second batch of eggs successfully hatched and many survived to be released into the river.
Congratulations to our netball team who found out that they had finished 2nd in the Bellshill Netball League on Friday! They played brilliantly and worked extremely well as a team! They now progress to the North Lanarkshire finals in May. Further practices will be scheduled for next term.
Primary 6 & 7 enjoyed their sponsored circuit and visit from Chris Bennett, Olympian Hammer Thrower. Thank you Millie for demonstrating the exercises at the beginning of the session.
Today we had our first shinty lesson, led by Mr Thomson from Uddingston Grammar. Here you can see us working with our partners. We rolled the ball along the floor and our partner had to position their feet into a pizza wedge in order to stop it. This was the easy part. Next we had to move towards the rolling ball to meet it, unfortunately this sometimes made the ball
Primary 6 have been very busy this term. In the first week after the winter break we visited Glasgow Science Centre for the launch of our Brown Trout project by The Clyde River Foundation. There was time to: explore the interactive activity floors, learn about the River Clyde and some of the creatures that live in the water, have lunch and go to the shop! Look out later this week
This week we have discussed what our families and ourselves do in preparation for Christmas Day and learned about the religious significance of advent Our craft challenge was to make an advent wreath which was then filled with 5 candles and today in church we were able to look at the advent wreath and ask Mr. Lyall questions.
On Monday I had fantastic fun at our party and I hope you did too.
Today Primary 6 enjoyed using the newly converted A/V room. It is now a lovely open space where the pupils enjoyed having the space, peace and quiet to read and select books for home. Recently each member of the Koala Reading Group summarised the main events in a section of their group novel as a timeline (approximately 3 chapters). Today in trios we joined the parts together to make longer timelines and then had fun
