St Ignatius' PS

Weekly Blog – 23rd April

The children have all settled well after the holidays, back into the routine and working hard. They all look so smart and I would like to thank you for ensuring they come to school in their uniforms. Just a reminder to check that they have appropriate indoor shoes. A number of children have lost their shoes or the ones that they are currently wearing are too small. This ensures that they can take part in all P.E. lessons safely.

  • There are a number of After-school Clubs starting this week:

Monday – Mr Munro Multi Sports Primary 4

Tuesday – Mr Fionda Choir P6 & P7

Tuesday – Cross Country Club resumes

Wednesday – Mr Foster Athletics P6

  • Badminton Challenge – Mr Johnstone, our Badminton Coach, has challenged the staff to a match against the pupils. This will take place on Thursday at 3.00pm. Pupils involved have been notified. All parents, families and friends are welcome to come along and watch this event.
  • P7 pupils will take part in the Engie Soccer 7 and netball tournament on Tuesday.
  • Photographer will be in the school on Tuesday taking individual photos of P1 to P4/5 pupils. On Wednesday for P5 to P7 pupils.
  • Jenny Nock will once again be visiting the school on Thursday. We are working with her on the Attachment & Trauma Sensitive Schools Bronze Award. We are really looking forward to the visit as Jenny always comes our school with lots of great advice and encouragement.
  • P6/7 Parents’ appointments will take place on Thursday from 1.00pm onwards.
  • A few members of St Aidan’s high will be visiting the school to speak to the primary 7s. This is good opportunity for them to ask questions and hopefully alleviate any concerns they may have about starting Secondary School
  • Rosey, our CL&D worker, will be working with the nursery over the next few weeks preparing our children and their families for transition into primary school.
  • She will also begin working with our Primary 1 children and their families. Letters have been sent home regarding this.
  • The Forest Club continues to be very popular with the boys. This term family members have been invited along and will work with both Mr Fionda and Mr Inglis who has run our Forest Club in the past.
  • This week’s assembly will be presented by P2/3 and P3/4 at 11.00am on Friday. All families and friends are welcome to attend. Apologies for the mixed up with these the last few weeks.

Finally, the last piece of news this week is that Mrs Hunter has secured a permanent position as a Continuous Improvement Officer with North Lanarkshire Council. We will all miss her here at St Ignatius but wish her the very best in her new position.
