St Ignatius' PS

Weekly Blog – 10th September

Week Beginning Monday 10th September

Welcome back everyone to the first HT blog of the session. It is great to see all the children back at school, we missed them during the holidays. They all look great in their uniforms and I would like to thank you for your efforts with this.

The school has been painted during the holidays and the staff worked hard, giving up some of their free time, to ensure the school and their classes were organised and ready for the new session. The school is looking great with lots of new, exciting displays going up on a daily basis.

We had a very successful Primary 1 ‘Meet the Teacher’ afternoon, so successful in fact that we have decided to roll this out across the school. Over the next few weeks you will have an opportunity to visit the school, meet other parents and staff over a cup of tea and visit your child’s class in an informal, friendly manner. If you can come along, please do, the children love showing off their class.

The PTFA have also decided to host a Primary 1 Welcome Evening on Friday 28th September at 6.00pm in the school. Again this will be a good opportunity for the new children and their families get to know the school.

We have a number of parents who give a few hours each week to help support the school, coming into classes, tidying cupboards or putting up displays. If you are interested in supporting the school in any way, please get in touch, we would be grateful for your help. Mr Fionda will be starting the Forest Club very soon, so he will also be looking for volunteers. This was very successful last year and couldn’t be done without the help and support of parents and local community.

If you are using the School App can I please ask that you help contribute towards the cost of this service.  It is a great way of keeping in touch with school and any events that may be happening. A new feature you will find this year is the Lunchtime Menu which is posted daily.

We would like to extend a warm welcome to Mr Stephen Duffy who has recently joined our school team. He is now our permanent Principal Teacher.

Mrs O’Rourke, who works part time in our office has recently secured a few time position in another school. We will miss her and wish her well in her new post.
