St Ignatius' PS

Weekly Blog – 19th March

This week is a particularly busy week in St Ignatius and we are all looking forward to the holiday. However, we have lots to do before next Thursday!

  • Our Primary 3 children are receiving the sacrament of Reconciliation on Monday evening, please keep them in your prayers.
  • On Friday Primary 7 will lead the assembly about St Patrick. Please come along if you can. We have been delighted to see so many parents take the time to come along and join us for these events.
  • Primary 7 Captains and Vice Captains will take part in ‘I am a Captain, Get Me out of Here’, something they look forward to with excitement and a little bit of dread!
  • Learning Logs will go home on Monday. These will give you a snap shot of some of your child’s learning. We have included a sheet for you to comment, please return this along with the learning log for Friday.
  • We have also included an explanation of the vision Statement as we feel some parents and carers are not sure about this and how it came about.
  • Some of our senior boys will be taking part in the Football Tournament at Ravenscraig on Friday at 12.00.
  • Congratulations to all the children who took part in the Cross Country Finals last week. It was a really difficult run for the children. Thanks to Pamela for preparing them for this and to the parents who came to support the children.
  • On Wednesday we celebrated our Syrian families being in Scotland for one year. This was a fabulous event that involved all the agencies and staff who have supported the families throughout the year. We enjoyed singing, lovely food and chat. We were also treated to a Highland Fling from Lauren one of our P5 pupils
  • Some of our P7 pupils attended the Mock Court finals last week in Edinburgh City Hall to receive a prize for Best Artistry. We are very proud of this achievement and congratulate all the children involved. At this event the children also had a chance to sing in a choir accompanied by Mr Fionda.  The funding for this event came from our Pupil Equity Fund, ensuring all children had a chance to take part in this fantastic experience.
  • Swimming session for Primary 5 will begin on Thursday morning. Children should come to school in appropriate sportswear and their swim wear in a bag.
  • Parents Evening is on Thursday. We look forward to seeing you there.
  • Thank you to everyone who has completed the Questionnaire on the app. We will make this available for you on Thursday at Parents evening if you have not had the opportunity to fill it.
  • Some of our senior pupils will be there to help you put the app on your phone, if you have not already done so. We can’t recommend this enough for keeping in touch with what is happening in the school. We would also ask that you join our twitter as this is a great way of seeing what is going on in the school. Newsletters are sent by email, so can we ask that you check the school has the correct email address for you.
  • Thank you for booking your parent appointments online. Most people seemed to manage this with no problem and hopefully next time things will run a little smoother.
