St Ignatius' PS

Week Beginning Monday 5th March

Welcome back everyone, it is good to get back to school after the snow days.

Reconciliation – Primary 3 will now begin preparations in the Church for their First Confession which will now take place on Monday 19th March. There will also be two preparation masses for this: Sunday 11th March & 18th March. These will take place in St Ignatius Church at 10.00am. Could we please ask that you attend these masses, if you can, as it is an excellent way to prepare your child for receiving this sacrament. The children also have home activities to complete, please try to spend some time with your child on this work.

Lenten Activities – We have decided that this Friday’s Lenten activities will be:   Crazy Hair/PJs/Dress as your favourite Book Character (Pupil Choice) & cinema afternoon. These events are £1 per family towards our chosen charities, thank you for your support  for our Lenten Charities.

You are invited along to P6/7 World Book Day assembly on Friday at 11.00am.

Primary 5 assembly has been rescheduled for after Easter holiday. Date to follow.

Open Curriculum Morning – Wednesday 7th March 10.30am-12.00. Please come along if you can. Coffee and tea will be served along with some entertainment from our P6/7 choir. You will have the opportunity to visit the classes and speak to the children about learning.

Soundsational – Primary 7 children will be working with this fabulous choir over the next few weeks. The children will have the opportunity to choose songs, using a range of styles using performance directions, experimenting with sounds, pitch, melody, rhythm, timbre and dynamics. This fantastic experience has been paid for from our Pupil Equity Fund ensuring all our children have an opportunity to experience working alongside professional musicians. A date for a performance has still to be arranged but will be something for all mums and dads to look forward to in the spring term.

Cluster Visits – Since August the teachers from the school have been visiting stage partners from our cluster school for assessment and moderation purposes. This has given them the opportunity to see how other schools are delivering the curriculum, particularly in maths and language whilst also allow them to further develop relationships with colleagues.
