Curriculum for Excellence Working Levels & Jotter Feedback

In St Ignatius’ Primary we have been working with our pupils to ensure that all of our learners have a clear understanding of what Curriculum for Excellence level they are working at and how well they are doing within that level. They have been involved in whole school assemblies to promote this initiative and along with their class teacher, they have discussed their working levels. This information allows our learners to make decisions about their next steps and from this, create new targets.

This Parent’s Evening when you are looking at your child’s Maths and Language jotters you will again find feedback forms which allow you to make a comment about your child’s progress. As usual your child and a member of the management team will also provide a comment about their school work.

In addition to this information you will find a set of codes across the sub categories of Maths and Language. These codes explain exactly where your child is currently working.

These codes are:

E1 E2 F1 F2 F3 S1 S2 S3
1st stage of Early Level 2nd stage of Early Level 1st stage of First Level 2nd stage of First Level 3rd stage of First Level 1st stage of Second Level 2nd stage of Second Level 3rd stage of Second Level
Your child would generally be expected to be working within E1 during their time in Nursery and into P1 Your child would generally be expected to be working within E2 by the end of  P1 and into P2 Your child would generally be expected to be working within F1 by the end of P2 and into P3 Your child would generally be expected to be working within F2 by the end of P3 and into P4 Your child would generally be expected to be working within F3 by the end of P4 and into P5 Your child would generally be expected to be working within S1 by the end of P5 and into P6 Your child would generally be expected to be working within S2 by the end of P6 and into P7 Your child would generally be expected to be working within S3 by the end of P7 and into S1

For example, the information currently recorded in your child’s jotter is taken from June 2017. Judgement of levels were assessed using formal and summative assessments and from the professional judgements of your child’s teacher last session. These levels will be regularly evaluated to ensure your child’s needs are appropriately met.
