Good morning room 1! I hope you are all having lots of fun in the sun. It feels a bit like the summer holidays have begun already with this lovely weather. I am missing seeing you all on a Monday afternoon! Stay safe everyone and have a go at your tasks for this week if you can.
Health and Wellbeing
LI – We are learning that everyone is unique and special.
We are all unique and special in our own way. Try out the activity below and ask someone else in your family to do it too. Are their answers different from yours? Does that make either of you better than the other or just unique?
Science
LI – We are learning about ice.
Ice is simply water that has frozen. What happens to the ice when you take it out of the freezer? It starts to melt. How fast it melts depends on a few things but I am sure you could guess some things that might make it melt?
Try out the experiment below which involves ice to keep you cool in this hot weather. My boys froze dinosaurs and had great fun trying different ways to get them out of the ice. They tried warm water, rubbing the ice, blowing hot air on it, putting salt on it and putting it outside in the sun.

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all well and have been enjoying getting the chance to chat to Miss Taggart on Teams. I have seen some of the fantastic work that you have been sending her. Well done boys and girls. Here are your tasks for this week. If you can, give them a try! Mrs Frew xxx

LI – We are learning to talk about our worries.
Last week we were learning that everyone is unique and special in their own way. This week, we are going to think about worries. Things are quite different just now and have changed again over the weekend. We now have new things we are allowed to do instead of staying indoors all the time. But when things change like this, it can give us little worries. Try to think of some of your worries that you can add into your sheet and share them with someone at home. Worries often go away when we tell someone about them.
Art
LI – We are creating sculptures using ice.
I thought that since it is so hot outside, we might have a little fun with ice. This week I’d like you to create an ice sculpture. You can use ice cube trays, colouring sand or cake moulds, anything which will give you nice shapes. Pop things in the ice and try to create some fabulous ice art. See the pictures below for some ideas. I’d love to see pictures of your creations!

LI – We are learning about Pentecost.
Yesterday we celebrated Pentecost. At Pentecost, Jesus ascended into heaven and his apostles were asked to spread the word of God. Have a look at the story of Pentecost below with someone at home.

Good morning everyone. I hope you are all feeling great and enjoying the sunshine when you can. It’s a bit too hot for me but I am having lots of ice lollies to help keep me cool! Here are your tasks for the week. Have a go if you can. The art task is cool and definitely one I am going to try with my boys! Mrs Frew xxx

LI – We are learning about our relationships with others.
We have been out of school for quite a while now and most of you will not have seen your friends for a long time. Things will be a little different when you come back to school in August but just like every year, you may be in a class with some new or different people. I want you to try the activity below which asks you to think about what you want in a new friend.

LI – We are learning about emotions.
Last week I asked you to try the “mood tracker” activity to see if you could identify emotions over a period of time. I am sure that you had a whole range of emotions over the week. This week, some things have changed for us. We are now allowed to see more people as long as we keep our distance. I’d love to hear if any of you have seen someone over the weekend that you have been missing and tell me how it made you feel to see them. My boys saw their Papa over the weekend and although it was really hard not to run and hug him, it made them so happy to see him. If you haven’t managed to see anyone new yet, tell me who you would like to see and how it makes you feel thinking about seeing them.

Hello Room 9 boys and girls! What a beautiful weekend we have had. I hope you have all managed to get out in the sunshine for a while. Here are your tasks for the week. Miss you all lots! Mrs Frew xxx
Drama
LI – We are learning to perform using our voice.
Boys and girls, listen to the Tale of Beatrix Potter in the link below. Listen to how the reader uses his voice to portray characters. It’s interesting because he has to use his voice really well because the audience cannot see the characters, so the voice is very important. Try to create your own reading of your favourite book and record it using an ipad or a phone and listen back to it. Can you tell the difference between the characters? You could even try to add in sound effects that you need using things around the house.

LI – We are learning to identify how we are feeling over a period of time.
Have a look at the image below of the mood tracker. Can you make one of your own with just 7 sections and track your mood over the week. Choose a colour for each emotion before you start and each day reflect on how you are mostly feeling and colour in the section for that day. It is important that we recognise how we are feeling so that if it is negative, we can do something to change it.
