TRANSFER FROM PRIMARY SCHOOL to SECONDARY SCHOOL

Pupils normally transfer between the ages of 11½ and 12½, so that they will have the opportunity to complete at least 4 years of secondary education. Parents will be informed of the arrangements no later than December of the year preceding the date of transfer at the start of the new session. A well structured programme of Primary Secondary liaison with Cardinal Newman High School assists with the transition from P7 to S1 and ensures that our children look forward to the challenges of High School with confidence.

This programme includes:
Members of staff from the Secondary school visiting and teaching P7
A Parent Information Evening in the Secondary School where the Head teacher and members of her staff discuss aspects of transition and the Secondary curriculum. Various workshops are arranged
Frequent meetings where Head Teachers of the associated Primaries meet with Mrs Boyd (HT) and Miss Taggart DHT
Meetings between P7 teachers and guidance staff to hand over information
