Primary 5 Room 10

Friday 1st May 2020

Good morning Primary 5,

We have made it to the end of the week and also to a new month! Hopefully May brings even more sunshine and happiness 😊☀️As always, look at your Home Learning Grids for today’s activity ideas. I loved seeing everyone’s homemade rainbows yesterday, they were a great success and it looked like you had great fun making them 🌈

Literacy

  • Log on to Spelling City to complete this weeks activities. Remember I can see your progress.
  • Follow this link to remind yourself of what a simile is – Simile Examples
  • Create some of your own similes, you could even draw a matching picture 😊

Maths

  • You have £50 to spend at the supermarket this week – make a list of what you want to buy.
  • Research the price of the items and see what you can buy with your £50!

Art

  • Draw a map of your local area and label any interesting landmarks.
  • Could you make a key to show the different types of land? G = Grass
  • You can use this website to help you National Geographic

Today is Friday and we usually do Star Book in the afternoon before Golden Time. It would be great to have a little ‘check in’ with everyone today. Can you all try to send me an email on GLOW telling me;

  1. What you have enjoyed this week
  2. What you have not enjoyed
  3. Something you are looking forward to doing after lockdown
  4. Try to add a picture to your email

Have a lovely day, it would be great to hear from you! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend 😊🌟💕Bitmoji Image

Friday 1st May

Good Morning Boys

It’s Friday! I hope you and your family are safe and well and have had lovely week…it’s been a quick one! It is now the month of May. Hopefully May will bring as much sunshine as April did! 🙂

Thank you so much for your super work this week, hopefully you can complete 1 or 2 more challenges from our Home Learning Grid today! We are going to begin using your Glow Teams and Email next week to communicate each day. I can’t wait to hear how you are doing! 🙂 Try to take a little look over the weekend so you are more familiar with it and all set for next week. 🙂 I’ve added some notes for parents to help access this at the end of my message.

It looks like the rain is going to stay away for most of the day, so why not go for a nice walk and enjoy some fresh air today? That’s my plan! 🙂

I hope you have a lovely weekend. I miss you all so much and seeing your wonderful smiles each day! I’m excited to chat with you and hear all your news in out Teams next week.

Take care and stay safe! 🙂

Remember…try to make someone at home laugh or smile today! : )

Note for Parents

I will continue to post our weekly Home Learning Grid on the school blog each Monday, but will then communicate directly each day through  Glow Teams or email. You should have received your child’s Glow username and password this week. I have outlined information on how you can access these below.

Glow Email

Access internet and type Glow rm unify into your search engine.
Insert your Glow username and password, remembering to be careful when using small and capital letters.
Once you have logged in to the website click on the left icon on the main screen that looks like a small house. This  will take you to the school glow page.
On this page there are a variety of resources including the School Blog page and also Microsoft outlook.
If you click on the Microsoft outlook you will be able to access your  email that I am sending out each morning, it will be in your inbox.
You can also reply to the email by clicking on the backwards arrow and send me a message and upload photographs or any work you may have completed.
You can also click on new message and send me a message that way also.

Glow Teams

Miss Paterson very kindly created this video outlining how to access Teams and emails through Glow.

To help get everything off to a smooth start next week, can I ask you to check your child’s email and try to logon to Teams at some point over the next couple of days please? However, please don’t worry if it takes us a few days to get used to this new routine and way of communicating…we’ll get there. 🙂

Thank you once again for your support. We understand these are very difficult times and we appreciate everything you do to support learning at home.

I hope you have a lovely weekend.

Take care.

Rooms 1 and 2

Good Morning Boys and Girls,

It’s Friday so we have reached the end of the week but it is also the beginning of May.  The weather looks nice today so if you can why don’t you go outside for some fresh air and exercise.  As always, have a look at your learning grids and see if there are any tasks left to do. Have you completed the Sumdog challenge?

Today would have been sing a long with Mrs Mills and Mrs Mooney. Why don’t you have your own wee sing a long at home today? Remember we would love to see your tasks or comments on Teams or Twitter.

Have a great weekend and stay safe!

Primary 3 Room 4

Good morning boys and girls,

Hope this finds you well.  Another week passes and I continue to think of you all as do all the teachers and staff at Muir Street Primary School.  If you haven’t yet seen our message to you all click on the link below:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=7f662W8DCVE

You should have received details about moving onto Glow Teams in the post this week and we will move onto this next week.

I have also emailed all children in Room 4 and this email can be accessed by logging into Glow and going into the Mail tile on the opening screen, if you can, send me an email back to check in and let me know you have access. We will then be able to chat online at specific time, starting next week, and you can have online chats/conversations with other children in our class.  I am really looking forward to hearing how you all are!

A note to parents/carers-

The suggested activities are just that suggestions, participation is at your discretion, complete if you can and find it appropriate to do so.  Many of you will have your own work to do at home and it can be difficult to juggle both.  Please remember both you and your child’s mental health is most important during this difficult time.

Some suggestions for this coming week:

Please refer to the grid for daily suggestions for Literacy and Numeracy.  Other curricular areas can be completed if this works for your family.

Click below to open the grid

Home Learning Grid

Writing Activity

Choose three of your favourite TV programmes and write a short paragraph about each.  Who are the main characters?  Where is the programme set? What is the plot/storyline? Why do you like each programme?

Art and Design

Use lines to create a patterned back ground. Colour the background if you would like to make your design more attractive.  Then using a variety of recycled or new paper create shapes by cutting out to make the body parts for a bird.  Glue your bird or birds to your patterned back ground.

Additional PE Ideas

Mrs Brown- Additional PE

Remember if you would like to leave a comment via Twitter, it would be lovely to hear from you! Hopefully soon we’ll be up and running on Glow Teams- look out for your login details arriving in the post this week!

Have a good day and remember these are just suggestions.  Keep safe.

Regards

Primary 5 Room 10

Thursday 30th April 2020

Good morning Primary 5,

How are you all getting on with your tasks this week? I can’t believe it’s Thursday already! It’s been lovely to hear from some of you and to see how hard you have been working 😊It is a bit cloudy today, maybe the sun will come out later ☀️

There are some super activities on your Home Learning Grids for today! 🌈

Literacy

  • Create a mnemonic for each of your spelling words. They don’t have to make sense, it can be something silly like; Angry Plants Race Into Lava.
  • Log on to Spelling City to complete the activities I have assigned to you. I’m glad so many of you are enjoying the spelling games!

Science

With permission from an adult, follow the instructions on: Grow Your Own Rainbow 🌈 Take a video or a picture of your rainbow and send it to your teacher or share it on teams / twitter for everyone to see!

Writing

  • Write your own set of instructions for the ’grow your own rainbow’ and send them on to someone else for them to try
  • Remember to include: Aim, Resources and clear steps. Firstly, secondly, after that…

Health & Wellbeing

NL Active Schools have set everyone a ‘handstand’ challenge to put a t-shirt on while in a handstand – you can see it on our school twitter – NL Active Schools Challenge

Give it a go – I bet you can all do it! 👍

I can’t wait to see what you all get up to today! Missing you all 💕
