Let’s see where we can get to on the leaderboard!

Good morning everyone!

Today would have been our Easter Service at school so I thought I would post some of the songs we would have been singing so you can teach them to your families. Click the links and have fun singing!

All Things Bright and Beautiful

We are all missing you very much! Stay safe everyone.

Remember everyone, if you use IDL in school then you should be continuing to use it at home to keep those literacy skills sharp!

The logins are just the same as before, if you can’t remember them, message your teacher in your class Team and they will remind you.

You should do 20 minutes of IDL, 3 times a week.

Click this link to log in and get started: IDL Login Page

Home Learning for School Closure

To all of our Morningsiders,

Below you will find all of the information you need to get started with home learning whilst the schools are closed. This is just a starting point and I’m sure there will be many changes as time goes on. Although we are providing you with suggested learning activities, we in no way want you to feel under pressure to complete all of these tasks.

This is a difficult time for our parents/carers and children, and it is important to remember that we need to take care of our mental health and acknowledge that emotions will be high and everyone will need a bit of nurture. Take this opportunity to do the things you might struggle to fit in to ‘normal’ family life. Teach your children to tie shoelaces and ties, cook/bake together, go for walks/bike rides or do some arts and crafts. Make use of the vast amount of mindful activities that are available online and try to find some peace and distraction from the worries we are faced with.

JRSO Comp

The Green Cross Code
·        THINK! First find the safest place to cross. …
·        STOP! Stand on the pavement near the kerb. …
·        USE YOUR EYES AND EARS! Look all around for traffic and listen. …
·        WAIT UNTIL IT IS SAFE TO CROSS! If traffic is coming, let it pass. …
·        LOOK AND LISTEN! When it is safe, go straight across the road – do not run. …
·        ARRIVE ALIVE!

For younger children it can be shortened to THINK, STOP,LOOK and LISTEN.
maximum of three verses and can be an individual entry or group entry

JRSO Competition

The children have been asked by our Junior Road Safety Officers to take part in a competition.  They have (if they want) to write a poem, compose a song or a rap about the Green Cross Code.  All entries to be returned to their teachers by 25th February for judging before being sent to North Lanarlshire Road Safety for the final judging.

Remember

STOP  LOOK  LISTEN  THINK

Assembly

January 24, 2020 by Mrs Kerr | 0 comments

This morning we had a very busy assembly, we practised our Scottish song and then it was on to the presentation of awards.

First up the children showed off their Wider Achievements to the school.

Next the children received their Responsible Citizen Certificates from the Support Staff.

Then the children that took part in the Lego Club were awarded with their certificates by Mrs White.

Last but not least the children that took part in the Colourful Seamantics group were awarded with their certificates.

As usual we here at Morningside Primary are super proud of all our children, not just the ones pictured.

Confident Individual Assembly

This morning at the whole school assembly we congratulated those children who had been selected to be presented with certificates for being Confident Individuals.

We also had children from across the school showing any wider achievements that they had gained.

Mrs Gardiner told the children that she had been notified about the Road Safety Calendar Competition.  Unfortunately  none of our children won the competition, but out of 1900 entries from 82 schools we were lucky enough to have 2 children selected to receive Special Recognition Awards for their entries.  Well done girls.
