Food Bank Donations

As mentioned in the newsletter, please find below the link for the Just Giving page to raise funds for the Live Well Foodbank that is run by Coltness Memorial Church in Newmains. Please remember that this is for those members of our school community who planned to send in gifts or cards to the school and wish to make a donation here instead. There is absolutely no pressure to donate.
Thank you for your support.

Updated Guidance

Dear Parents/Carers

On the 30th of October, Scottish Government published updated guidance for schools, which you can view using the link below.

https://education.gov.scot/improvement/covid-19-education-recovery/cerg-guidance/

Updates on Physical Distancing and Face Coverings in Schools Early Learning and Childcare Settings

  • Face coverings should be worn by parents and other visitors to the school site (whether entering the building or otherwise), including parents at drop-off and pick-up.

This means that face coverings will now be required for parents and carers at the school gate, including if waiting across the road, during drop-off and pick-up. Please also continue to maintain social distancing.

Thank you for your cooperation in following this new guidance to help ensure the safety of all our pupils, parents and staff.

Latest school updates

Update Tuesday 4 August 2020

Return to Schools

Schools across North Lanarkshire will return from Wednesday 12 August. Our head teachers have been working hard to go through every part of the Scottish Government guidance and we’ve decided that this return will be phased until Friday 14 August to allow pupils to familiarise themselves with new routines, changes to buildings and hygiene measures. See more information in the letter below.

For Primary Schools

  • Wednesday 12 August: Primary One, Two and Three will be in school.
  • Thursday 13 August: Primary One, Four, Five, Six and Seven will be in school.
  • From Friday 14 August, all pupils will be in school.

All Primary One pupils will attend on each of these days.

Please also note that arrival and departure times at primary schools may vary, particularly for Primary One. Your school will be in direct contact if that is the case.

NLC response to the latest announcement

Today’s announcement from the Scottish Government outlines the plan to reopen all schools on a full time basis from August.

We are currently considering the practicalities and implications of this announcement and will await further clarification and guidance from government, particularly in relation to public health and scientific advice.

Our priority is the safety of our pupils and staff across our network of primary, secondary and ASN schools, as well as our early learning and childcare settings.

We understand that you will have questions, and as this news was only announced today, we will make further information available on how this impacts on our schoolsand facilities in the coming days.

We are preparing for pupils to return full-time to school on 12 August and we will be working closely with our schools and partners, including our early years and childcare provision to establish our plans, which we will communicate as soon as we are in a position to.

Gerard McLaughlin

Head of Education (North)

I am very proud to introduce the Morningside Primary Virtual Choir. These pupils (and their grown-ups) have worked very hard over the past few weeks to learn this song at home, record it and even make up some dance moves to go with it.

We hope you enjoy their performance and that it helps spread some joy, happiness and wonder.

‘Wonder’
