We had a very successful day on Friday at one of our planned non-uniform days – lots of pupils had fun taking part.
P7 Burns Supper
Primary 7 held a fantastic Burn’s Supper last week. Congratuations to all pupils on there fantastic performance. You were all great! Thanks to all the parents who attended to show support.
Primary 7 also enjoyed sharing their performance with the rest of the school on Friday at assembly.
Staffing Update
Maternity Leave
On Friday we said goodbye to Miss Sutherland R12 who has now began her Maternity Leave. Mrs Joanne Kirkhope will be teaching R12 for the rest of the term.
Mrs Krausen is also leaving for Maternity Leave. This Friday will be her last day in school. Mrs Jenny Evans will be teaching R10 for the rest of the term.
We wish them both well and look forward to hearing about the new arrivals soon.
We are still awaiting confirmation on who will be joining the school to replace Miss Sutherland and Mrs Krausen. Once I know this I will let you know.
Retirment
Tuesday 31st January will be the very last day for Mrs Val Phillips. Mrs Phillips is retiring from the council after a massive 20 years service. We wish Mrs Phillips well and hope you enjoy all your extra free time with your family.

Playtime Snack
Please send your child to school with a small snack for morning interval. We have an increasing number of pupils looking for snack to be provided by us. Unfortunatley we do not always have a huge supply of this.
Should you be finding it difficult to provide snack due to increased financial pressure please let us know by contacting the school office. This will be treated in the strictest confidence.
Water
Reminder that only water should be provided for drinking in class. Pupils shouldn’t be drinking fizzy drinks, energy drinks or drinks high in sugar in school.
Parents should also ensure pupils are making a sensible choice when pupils are eating out for lunch. These drinks can often have a negative effect on learning especially in the afternoons.

Car Parking
Once again I am writing to ask you NOT to park in the staff car park. The staff car park is for staff only; parents should not access the car park to collect or drop off students. This includes in the morning and at picking up time at 3pm.
The only exception to this is where we have been informed that students have a disability, and an agreement has been made to enable parental access to the car park.
Whilst I appreciate that the volume of traffic in the area surrounding school may be a source of frustration, my primary concern is to ensure that students are able to make their journey to and from school safely.
Should parents continue to use the staff car park, we may have to close the gates to prevent people parking.
Please park away from the school and walk to collect your child.
Thank you for your support and co-operation.
Bright Colours Day – Friday 27th January
This Friday is one of our agreed non-uniform days. Pupils can come to school wearing something bright.
Burns Supper – Thursday 26th Januray
Primary 7 have been working hard on this years Burn’s supper. They are very much looking forward to the event. Tickets have been on sale to P7 parents. We look forward to seeing the special performance.
Mobile Phones
Could I remind all parents and pupils that mobile phones are not permitted to be used on school premises. If they are required fro after school they should be turned off and remain in school bags throughout the day.
Pupils bring these to school at their own risk.
After School Clubs
Our After School Clubs are resuming this week, you will have recieved a confirmation letter if your child has a place at a club.
Please ensure pupils have appropriate gym clothes for sports based clubs.
Chewing Gum
Please do not allow your child to bring chewing gum to school. Pupils chewing gum will be asked to put it in the bin. Please speak to your child about not purchasing this at lunchtime.

The dates that will affect our school are:

Families in receipt of free school meals on the basis of low income will be reimbursed via a direct payment to bank accounts or via Paypoint voucher to postal addresses which may take up to five working days.
