Synagogues

Here is some of what we have been learning about Synagogues in P4:

  • The light on the ceiling is called the ‘Ever Lasting Light’ or Ner Tamid in Hebrew (Violet)
  • The Torah is jewish Bible written in Hebrew (Gregor)
  • Jewish people go to a synagogue (Aaron)
  • The first person who built a synagogue was King Solomon (Aaraa)
  •  A Synagogue is where Jewish people go to worship, sing, pray and meet friends (Alfie)
  •  The Torah is kept in the Ark (Kyle Ca)

We watched a video which showed us how Jewish children can take part in the Synagogue, we drew some beautiful Menorah candles, and completed some facts sheets. We also created some stained glass windows with Jewish symbols on them. These are being displayed in the hallway outside our classroom!

If you want to find out more information on this topic, you can visit this website which had loads of great facts.

  1. I enjoyed this topic and I made a mnemonic for Bimah.
    Big
    Insects
    Mould
    Ant

This helps me to remember how to spell it.
