Theatre School of Scotland Workshop

On Wednesday, pupils in S3 welcomed Jenny Douglas from the Theatre School of Scotland into the school to lead a workshop on all things musical theatre.

Pupils got to experience what life is like at the Theatre School, including exercises in singing, acting, dancing, and even devising some of their own work. The afternoon ended with pupils staging a performance from what they had learned and created.

We look forward to welcoming Jenny and the Theatre School of Scotland back to St Matthew’s in the future!

Young Leaders of Learning Visit

On 2 February 2026, our S3 Young Leaders of Learning welcomed our P7 Young Leaders of Learning from St Anthony’s and St John’s to St Matthew’s Academy.

The focus of this day was Health and Wellbeing and our S3 Young Leaders of Learning started the morning off with a tour of our school. Lots of information was shared at this time including Whole School Achievements, Pupil Voice, The Wellbeing Wheel and much more.

Following the tour of our school, the Nurture Base was showcased and Mrs Millar and Mrs McNair welcomed all of our Young Leaders of Learning and set up an activity for all to work on – All About Me. S3 pupils were also involved in taking orders for snacks for pupils who were working in the Nurture Base at this time.

After snacks and refreshments, the Question and Answer session took place where all pupils from St Anthony’s and St John’s asked our S3 pupils Health and Wellbeing related questions. Our pupils shared all aspects of their experiences in school including access to Guidance Staff, Campus Cop, teachers and Pupil Support Assistants. They told many stories of their time in St Matthew’s Academy and how they feel very well supported throughout.

Feedback from the day has been very positive and lots of good practice was shared between all 3 schools. All schools are looking forward to continuing to build on these positive relationships as the Young Leaders of Learning Programme evolves.
