For the first time ever, Saint Matthew’s Academy is running the Gold Award, with 14 pupils currently participating.
In addition to the Physical, Skills, Volunteering and Expedition sections, Gold participants must also complete a Residential section, where they spend time away from home working with new people in an unfamiliar environment.
Gold Expedition Locations
- Practice Expedition: Dumfries and Galloway hills
- Qualifying Expedition: Isle of Arran
Despite difficult weather conditions during training, pupils demonstrated excellent resilience, teamwork and determination throughout the expedition experience.
Upon completion of their Gold Award, pupils will be invited to receive their award at Palace of Holyroodhouse.
