Welcome to Primary 4/5’s class page at Cumbrae Primary School inĀ Millport on the beautiful Island of Cumbrae.
We do lots of amazing things at school and here is just some information about what goes on in our class. Our teacher’s are Miss Smith and Ms Kelso.
For our parents you can check SeeSaw for a more complete picture of your child’s learning journey.
In Literacy we experience a variety of Reading, Writing, Listening and Talking activities. We read daily using Bugclub or Talisman resources or our own library books. Writing activities are usually linked to our Interdisciplinary theme or something currently topical such as climate change. We will post examples of our success in our SeeSaw journals.
In Numeracy we are focusing on multiplication, division, problem solving and data handling. We will link this with our IDL topic and get out and about and gather information which we will then input into tables, charts and graphs.
In Health and Wellbeing we focus on Social Wellbeing by developing an understanding of the importance of maintaining positive friendships and ensuring we are aware of how our thoughts, feelings and attitudes can affect our friendships in positive ways. We will be use the Kit Bag, Circle Time activities and the Tree of Knowledge.
All our activities develop our school values of
Teamwork, Respect, Ambition, Inclusion and Nurture
All otherĀ curricular areas will be covered through our IDL topics which change each term depending on what is current in the wider world or what we as a class are specifically interested in.
We are very lucky to have regular valuable outdoor learning opportunities and work with the Field Studies Centre and have weekly gardening sessions on our allotment.
