Good morning,
Since we returned to school we have been having some technical issues with recording accurate pupil engagement and contacting parents/carers to inform them when a pupil has not been engaging. We have now created an alternative system which will involve messages being sent home each fortnight highlighting where pupils are not engaging fully with their remote learning. Messages will have a contact to a member of staff for that subject so you can find out more specific information if you wish. I apologise that it had taken this long.
Engagement messages will be sent home when a pupil does not get involved in the subject lessons each week and/or when work requested by the teacher is not submitted for correction and feedback. For example, a pupil may log in for a lesson but if they do not submit the work asked of them then they will receive a non engagement message. The work submitted is critical for teachers to know how well a pupil is actually learning and In the vast majority of cases not returning work rather than not attending the lessons will be the reason a message has been sent.
Messages set home on 22/2/21 to senior pupils reflect engagement over the previous two weeks and messages will be sent to S1/2/3 parents /carers this week also reflecting the last two weeks. This will then alternate each week so messages sent will reflect engagement for the previous two weeks.
As I have stated many times previously, we really appreciate any support you can offer to help with remote learning but we fully understand that due to other commitments this may not always be possible. I also apologise for any confusion caused by some engagement messages sent on 22/2/21.
