Week Ending 22/8/25

Dear Parents and Carers,

I wanted to contact you following the unacceptable events yesterday where the fire alarm was activated maliciously.

I would like to start by offering a complete apology for the selfish, immature and unacceptable actions of the pupils involved and for the upset and distress these alarms will undoubtedly have caused pupils.

The alarm was set off by two senior pupils, both of whom are on our school roll but do not attend school. It was initially set off at lunchtime then again at the end of the day. The alarm went off a third time but this was due to staff in the school trying to reset it so this was a complete accident.

In response to the situation, I have contacted Police Scotland who will proceed with legal action against the pupils involved. I have also contacted Social Services and the matter will be referred to the Children’s Reporter. The pupils involved will also no longer attend our school.

As a school we do not have a record of malicious fire alarms, so the events of yesterday were a shock and we are treating them very seriously.

Once again I apologise for these unacceptable events.

Kind Regards,

Calum Johnston

SECONDARY FAMILIES Attendance Matters (1)

Dear Parent/Carer,
Attendance Matters – Building your tomorrow, today!
At Auchenharvie Academy, we’re committed to helping every young person feel confident, connected, and ready to succeed. As part of this, we’re sharing our ‘Attendance Matters’ presentation with families to highlight how regular school attendance supports wellbeing, learning, and future opportunities.
The presentation includes:
– How coming to school every day builds positive habits for life
– The benefits of strong routines, friendships, and engaging learning
– The wide range of support available to families
– Simple ways to support attendance
We understand that there are times when absences are unavoidable due to illness or other significant reasons. In such cases, we kindly ask you to inform the school as soon as possible and to provide the necessary details of the absence. Our Pastoral Care team is here to support you and your child, and we will work with you to ensure that any missed work is caught up effectively.
We know that every family plays a vital role in a young person’s success, and we’re here to work with you every step of the way. Together, we can make sure everyone feels included, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
Thank you for your continued partnership and commitment to your child’s education. We look forward to welcoming your child to Auchenharvie Academy on Wednesday 20th August 2025 for another productive school session.
Warm regards,

Calum Johnston
