Safer School Scotland App

All schools in Moray now have access to the updated Safer School Scotland app.  The CLPL content is more closely aligned to the Scottish curriculum and the news and updates reflect the online landscape and trends affecting Scotland.

The Safer Schools Scotland App is an award-winning safeguarding resource, developed in partnership between INEQE Safeguarding Group and Zurich Municipal, that helps entire school communities to better protect themselves in the Digital World, through delivering contemporary and contextual safeguarding information to teachers, learners, parents and the wider school community.  It is a free app for mobile or tablet devices which provides school communities with up to date digital safeguarding and online safety information.  The App is designed to support and protect families and young people by educating and empowering them both at school and at home. Through their log-in users get access to information that tailored to their role.  They will receive tips and advice on how to be safer online, as well as access to CLPL for those using the staff versions of the app. Provided by Moray Council’s corporate insurer Zurich Municipal each school in Moray has their own bespoke version of the app with their own school’s details.

The original Safer Schools app was first launched in Moray in 2021; however users are now advised to download the new Safer Schools Scotland app from their mobiles app store to ensure they retain access to this valuable resource.  The original Safer Schools app will be retired in time.

After downloading the app from the Google Play or Apple App store users can use a four digit code or QR code to log into their school’s app.  Schools will issue the required join codes to parents, staff and learners to allow them to access relevant content for their role or age.  Adult users will be asked to provide their name and email address to create an account; however no learner data is needed for young people to access their version of the app.  A new feature in the app will allow adult users to access different roles and schools versions of the app without having to log out and in to multiple accounts.
