Digital Learning Champions

From August 2023 the Moray Digital Learning Team are making some exciting changes to the Digital Learning Champion programme.  The DLC will remain a voluntary CLPL community for Moray school, ELC Settings or Education Support Department staff to take the lead within their team to improve their own digital skills and encourage others to develop their confidence in using digital tools too; but will now have a greater focus on the applications of digital skills.  Our new look Microsoft Team is ready to go, and we already have our first face to face meeting arranged for 13th September at Elgin Library.  More details on the DLC programme, including how to apply can be found below.

What is a Digital Learning Champion?

A Digital Learning Champion (DLC) is a member of the education community who will work with the Digital Learning Team as a key contact for the development of digital learning skills.  Schools/Education Teams can have more than one DLC and any member of staff in a school or education support Team, no matter what their current skill level, can be a DLC, but they should be-

  • Good communicators.
  • Digital enthusiasts (you don’t have to be an expert, but you do need to be enthusiastic).
  • Willing to undertake training and develop their own skills.
  • Motivated and have the confidence and patience to help others.

What should a Digital Learning Champion do?

  • Ensure that all colleagues are kept up to date with information from the Digital Learning Team.
  • Help colleagues learn new digital skills, gain confidence and overcome barriers to getting digitally active.
  • Be aware of overarching issues with accessing digital learning with their workplace.
  • Work with the Digital Learning Team to co-ordinate CLPL for their workplace.
  • Develop their own digital learning skills and encourage others to do the same by taking part in regular CLPL.
  • Work with other DLCs to share best practice.

What support is there for Digital Learning Champions?

  • Monthly networking meetings to share updates, new product demos and share best practice.  Most of these sessions will take place online; however, it is hoped that face to face sessions can be arranged a few times a year.
  • Microsoft Team for DLCs to get news, ask questions, interact with other Champions and take part in webinars.
  • Access to Digital Learning Team SharePoint site with resources and guidance.
