This term Primary 2 will be finding out about our senses and healthy eating. This will include experiments involving the 5 senses and emphasising the importance of diet on our health and well being.
Designing and building 3D ice-cream vans.
In P1A this term, our theme is ‘Percy the Park Keeper’. We will be planting beans and seeds and caring for them. We will be looking at various lifecycles and how to care for animals and pets. Some of our discussions will be about where our food comes from and being aware of dangerous substances. We will also be learning how to cross the road correctly and safely. We have a very busy term ahead with many exciting activities to look forward to.
Primary 3B are focusing on a new topic in Term 4 which we are referring to as ‘The Seaside’. We are just at the beginning of this topic and so far have focused on how the sun and moon impact on the tide, explored different types of seaweed and have tasted it. We are moving on in the next few weeks to explore rock pooling, conservation, dolphins and will learn how to cook over an open fire. The class are all excited about our trips out on a Wednesday with Wild Things who are supporting us in our learning this term. Within the class we are further investigating these aspects and will be looking at this theme cross curricular. Our first art focus has been making sharks – the children have thoroughly enjoyed this.
Term 4 started off with our class assembly. We spent the first week learning new songs in British Sign Language and learning about looking after our environment. The children were amazing on the day and performed beautifully!
Our theme this term is Percy the Park Keeper. We had a special visitor to our class, Barney the Rabbit. He spent the day with us so we could learn about caring for pets – Barney was a great success. We have already planted broad beans and made grass caterpillars, we are now eagerly waiting to watch them grow. We are also carrying out experiments to see what environment is best for broad beans to grow…Watch this space!
P1A January 2016
In P1A this term, our theme is ‘The Lighthouse Keeper’s Lunch’. We will be looking at the weather and different cloud formations. P1a will be discussing lighthouses and why they are so important to sailors. We will be talking about and working on the forces push and pull, carrying out experiments using these forces. We will be discussing electricity and making simple electrical circuits. Healthy food will also be discussed and we will be in the kitchen too.
We have had a fun filled, busy term 3. We have learned all about lighthouses and were surprised to find out that the first lighthouse was used in Egypt 2000 years ago! As part of our theme we made our own lighthouses using plastic cups and tea lights – we even got a chance to get messy using papier mache. We have enjoyed being scientists and finding out how electrical circuits work, and managed to join two circuits together to make two light bulbs work.
This term Primary 2 will be finding out about our senses and healthy eating. This will include experiments involving the 5 senses and emphasising the importance of diet on our health and well being.
During term three P3B were exploring ‘The Owl Who was Afraid of the Dark’. Throughout the topic the children were able to participate in many group challenges including making an owl. We were also fortunate enough to have a visit from the Country Ranger where we were able to observe stuffed owls and other wildlife. Following on from this topic we spent a couple of weeks on ‘The Solar System’ where the children learned about the planets, Earth and the Sun.
In P1C this term our theme is ‘The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch’. We will be learning about seasons and the weather and how lighthouses can help us in different weathers. We will be learning about the history of lighthouses and the different types of lighthouses that there are. We will be working on ‘push and pull’ forces and exploring these through our play and conducting experiments to help us learn about push and pull. We will be making our own simple electrical circuits to learn about electricity and how it they make the light shine from lighthouses. This term we will be learning about how we can be healthier both in and out of school and will be preparing some healthy food in the kitchen.
