P3K Home learning Challenges Week beginning 23.3.20

P3K Learning Challenges for the week beginning 23.3.20

Reading

We are learning to ask and answer questions about what we have read.

Pick a book that you have at home. Read it carefully and make a quiz for your family about the book. Remember questions begin with question words (who/what/when/where/why) and each question should end with a question mark. Try to write at least 5 questions.   Once someone has completed your quiz don’t forget to check their answers and give them feedback!

Writing

We are learning to persuade.

Think of your favourite TV program. Write a letter to your parents persuading them to let you watch an extra half an hour of your favourite program. Think about how a letter should be set out, and try to remember the tricks we have learnt for being persuasive! (e.g. flattering your reader/making them worried about what might happen if they don’t agree with you )

Maths

We are learning about weight.

Weight is measured in grams (g) and kilograms (Kg). 1000g=1Kg. Have a look through the kitchen cupboards and look on all the packets and boxes. Can you find the weight recorded on the packets? Make a table to record each item and its weight. What is the heaviest packet you can find? What is the lightest packet?

Keep practising your tables too! Hit the button and mental maths train on www.topmarks.co.uk can help with this!

 Health and wellbeing

We are learning about feelings.

Think about a place that make you feel calm and happy. It could be a real place, or an imaginary place. Maybe a forest, or a beach, or your bedroom. Draw a picture of your special place and stick it on your bedroom wall.

Art

We are learning to draw.

Search on YouTube for “How to draw a shark folding surprise puppet”. Follow the instructions carefully. You don’t have to use marker pens. Whatever you have at home will do!
