P2Z Home School Learning 23 March 20

P2 Learning for week beginning Monday 23.03.20

Good morning to you all. We hope that you all had an enjoyable weekend despite these very uncertain and challenging times. We have attached the Early Level and First Level teaching packs to help you support your child’s learning at home; they provide a list of suggested websites and different activities. In addition to this, every week, with the exception of holidays, we will post suggested areas for you to work on at home. These are only suggestions so please don’t feel you have to do all of them as we realise there are other many other things going on in people’s lives.

Reading: Read a book to someone. Can you think of a different ending for that story?

Numeracy: Practise your number bonds to 10 and 20 (3 and what makes 10?; 14 add what makes 20? etc.) as well as addition facts within 10 and 20 (7 + 2=9; 5 + 4=9; 12 + 7=19; 15 + 4=19). What is the highest score you can get on Hit The Button?

Number facts (or number bonds) are basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division calculations that children should learn to recall instantly with no working out (in other words, they need to learn them off by heart). Number bonds are important for your child to learn because they form the building blocks for higher-level Maths skills.

  • Play Hit the Button – www.topmarks.co.uk
  • Practise regularly but for short periods at a time.
  • Make it fun by playing games!

Health and Wellbeing: PE session – Every morning at 9am Joe Wicks will carry out a PE session on YouTube. Get your comfy clothes on and join in!

RME: Find out about Easter – Why do Christians celebrate Easter? How do Christians celebrate Easter in the UK? What traditions or customs do Christians follow?

Here is a link to a video explaining the Easter Story:

Writing: You can choose to write about:

  • Some of the facts that you found out about Easter.
  • What happened on the day Jesus died?
  • What happened on the day Jesus came alive?

Don’t forget to use your writing toolkit when doing writing – capital letters, finger spaces, punctuation, spelling rules we have learned, read what you have written to make sure it makes sense.
