Travel Tracker can still be completed at home.  As School is now closed you can still continue to record activity that you do at home on the Travel Tracker.
It won’t be for ‘the walk to school’ but if you’ve done more than 1,000 steps at home you can click ‘Park and Stride’ and ‘Walk’ for more than 2,000 steps.

Please see below for this weeks suggested Home Learning.

1. Literacy – Persuasive Poster. – Supporting the NHS

Previously we have explored persuasive techniques and looked at examples of various styles of poster depending on purpose.
MacMillan Coffee Morning, Energy & Space Brochures, WW2 Propaganda & Enterprise are some of the most prominent examples of using persuasive techniques we have used.
Can pupils use font, colour scheme, layout, slogan’s and animations to create a persuasive poster to promote positive messages?
Pupils can do this by hand, digitally or mix media.
Some examples include -Stay Home Save Lives – Wash Your Hands – Clap for the NHS.

2. Literacy – Reading a chosen book.

Pupils should continue to read a book of their choosing, and at some point this week Visualise from the perspective of a character in the book.
Visualising is one of our Higher Order Reading strategies and pupils imagine they can see from the perspective of that particular character in a certain part of the story.
What can your character ; See, Hear, Taste, Touch, Smell and Feel (emotion).

3. Numeracy – Time – Creating a Timetable
Before the holidays P6/7 were working on the math topic time.
This included creating partial, full day and weekly timetables for a wide range of areas such as a school day, organising an event, creating a TV guide.
This week can pupils create 3 x Daily timetables that include education, entertainment & chores. Remember to include this weeks learning, relaxation, exercise, socialising and household help.
A Bingo Grid relating to household help is in the Second Level Learning Pack if you are looking for ideas.
Furthermore Sumdog will be live this week. There will be Challenges and Competitions relating to Time and other areas. If you have forgotten your username or password please do not hesitate to  get in contact.

4. Health & Well-Being – ABC Fitness.
Attached is an A-Z of fitness with each letter representing an exercise and an amount of reps.
Pupils can do this by themselves or with family members. Spell your name, what’s your favourite food? Favourite film etc.
Spell out the answer and complete the exercise and reps for each letter.

5. Topic – WW2 Junk Modelling.
With our recycle bins filling up I thought we could use some of the cardboard, bottles, cans and pots to recreate some WW2 icons.
This is an open challenge – Perhaps pupils and parents can create World Landmarks, Tanks, Planes, Anderson & Morrison Shelters or people. The choice is yours.
Create and please share your creations on Twitter.

I look forward to seeing what you’ve been up to. I ll add messages on Twitter daily too and any pictures you post will be added  to the school website.

Hoping to see you all soon,

Mr Stuart
