Literacy

We were learning to proof read in class, looking for punctuation errors spelling mistakes. Read the attached file, either rewrite the passage and underline the errors or just make a list of the errors. Were you correct? The answers are attached for you to self assess. Proof Reading

Contractions – it is = it’s, cannot = can’t

Homophones – a homophone is when two words sound the same but have different meanings.

Grammar Errors

You were learning to write poems with Mrs Bokor. Read the poem WIND

And answer these questions:

Can you write a few sentences about what you think it means?

Read it and give it expression, Read it to someone at home.

How did it make them feel?

What did they think the poem was about?

Did they have the same ideas as you about its meaning?

Rights Respecting Schools 7 next week

Definition: Article 12  – Respect for the views of the child

Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.

During our teams sessions you already express these rights, being listened too, feeling that your voice counts and trusting that you can speak honestly with each other.

Activity – Can you think of any stories or films in which children’s voices are really listened to and it makes a difference? If you think of one, tell somebody about it.
