P2C Home Learning Week 3 (Beginning 27.4.2020)

P2C Learning for Term 4 week 3 (beginning 27.04.20)

Good morning to you all. Here we are ready to start week 3 of our virtual term. What a glorious week last week was; with lots of sun! We hope you have all had a good week and managed to enjoy some activities outdoors. Keep sending us your photos as we have loved seeing what you have been up to. We’re sure your friends have loved seeing them too as we like to share them on Twitter.

You should all have been given a Glow account and password. Please email the school if you do not have this. We have emailed you so that you have our email addresses to get in touch with us if you need to. If you have not already registered your child’s Glow account, please follow the link below which shows you how to register it.

This week we are introducing class ‘Teams’. Microsoft Teams is a secure platform which we are using to further improve communication between teachers, pupils, parents and carers. If you have not registered yourself/your child onto Glow, you will need to do this before you can access Teams. Please follow the video below to get yourself/your child onto your school class ‘Teams’ page. We have previously created the class ‘Teams’ page and it is ready for you. This page allows us to use a chat room to speak directly to pupils or parents.

Here are some more suggested activities to help to keep you busy this week.

Your morning starter this week can be Boggle.

You can copy the letters onto some paper or print the picture above to make it easier to use. What words can you make with the given letters? As a challenge, you can choose a couple of the words and write them in sentences or you could play Noun, Adjective, Verb.

Writing:

Writing instructions – Write a set of instructions for a game you like to play. It could be a board game, a game you play outside, a card game or any other game that you can play with another person. Your instructions might use more than the four or five steps we have been used to doing in class.

Things to consider when doing your writing:

  • the title.
  • drawing a picture for each step.
  • pictures in the correct order.
  • starting each instruction with a bossy verb.
  • using a joining word.
  • capital letters/full stops/neat writing.

* Remember writing is a process therefore it does not need to be done in one sitting. You can draw the pictures for your instructions one day and write the instructions the next day or over a couple of days. Don’t forget to reread what you have written to make sure it makes sense.

You can send us a photo of your finished pieces when you are done.

Reading: This week, we thought you could play reading Bingo. Choose 3 or 4 activities to do over the week. Once you have done one activity, cross it off on the grid.

Numeracy:

We have set you a new Sumdog challenge; this time the questions will be about Time. Good Luck!

Look at the following columns showing different times. Do you have a clock or a watch that you could use? If not, you can always draw the clock faces or use the clock on https://www.topmarks.co.uk/time/teaching-clock

Choose a column and try to make these times on a clock or a watch. There is a  mixture of analogue and digital times. If you can manage the ones in the column you have chosen, challenge yourself to do the next column or you could get your parents to give you some different times.

Health and Wellbeing

This week we would like you to try our Kindness Challenge. Below you can see some ideas of how you can show kindness towards others. Can you think of anything else you could do/say to someone to show how kind you are? Share your acts of kindness with us on Twitter.

Technologies

Draw a map of your bedroom. Think about where all your furniture is and how you are going to show it on a map. Have a look at the example below to help you:

Please remember that we are available to help and support you with your child’s learning. You can contact us through Twitter or email adminbishopmill@moray-edunet.gov.uk
