P4WN Home School Learning 23 March 20

Good morning pupils and parents of P4WN. We hope that you had a good weekend, even in the unusual circumstances we find ourselves. We are going to be posting on this page for the duration of the time pupils are not in school. Staff have been working hard this week to produce ‘Home Learning Packs’ which contain information, ideas, activities and resources to help support pupils’ learning at home. There are different levels and pupils should work on the one which suits their needs best. There is no pressure for pupils to get through all the work provided. These are merely suggestions and ideas to help you.

Numeracy/maths

  • pupils can work on any aspect they feel is appropriate. This week they could work on practising the 2, 3, 4, 5, 10 times tables. Online games e.g. ‘Hit the Button’ are very good for this. There are many others.
  • pupils can access their Sumdog and Heinemann Active Maths accounts to practise a variety of skills

Literacy

  • pupils could write a recount about what they did at the weekend. We have done a few recounts this year so they should be able to say the kind of information and structure that they would use for this, particularly using time connectives to make it flow in the correct order. Add pictures as well.
  • pupils could try to read a story this week and it could be one they have read before or is a favourite. They should look for 5 + words that they find tricky and then use a dictionary (paper or online) to clarify the meanings. They could then design a new cover for their book – even create a new title for it.
  • pupils were asked to complete solo talks for homework for this week. They could present these to the family.

Health and Wellbeing

  • pupils have just completed their gymnastics block with Miss McNab. They were designing sequences, incorporating different moves. They could practise these or invent a whole new sequence to include any suitable props they might have at home e.g. a hula hoop. They could set it to music and perform to the family. Try to get outside for walks as well, keeping the social distancing rules.

Art

  • Design an Easter egg wrapper. There are lots of ideas online. Just Google Easter Egg Designs! Paint, use felt pens, use materials to make them into a collage.

We know it may not be that easy but we hope you have an enjoyable Easter holiday and we will be posting more as of the 13th April
