Home Learning Packs – P4WN 20.4.20

Welcome to week two of Term 4! Thank you for all the work and pictures you have sent so far. Please don’t worry if you haven’t managed to complete all of last week’s activities; you can continue to use any of the suggestions, from any of the weeks and let us know what you have been doing. There is no requirement to get everything done as we know families are busy in this difficult time.

Numeracy/maths

  • Last term pupils worked on time. Below you will find some useful links and some worksheets to help you practise telling the time. Look at clocks at home and see if they are digital or analogue. Practise matching up times. You might like to time things you are doing if you have a minute hand on a watch or using a phone stopwatch. How many skips/hops/ball bounces etc can you do in a minute? Can you do better than Mum/Dad/brothers/sisters??

There is a new challenge on Sumdog for pupils to complete. There are also individual practise games assigned to each pupil on Heinemann Active Maths which will be kept up to date daily/weekly as required. You can do as many or as few as you would like. There are also some worksheets allocated on Active Maths too.

Literacy

  • This week pupils could write a letter to a friend that they have not seen for a while. You need to think about the address, the date and how you want to finish it off (the letter format, which we have done before). You can talk about what you have been doing and what you hope you will be doing once you get to catch up again. You could keep it and give it to them once you get back to school or you could post it to them if you have their address! Don’t forget to let us know how you get on.
  • pupils should try to continue to read books that they enjoy and to access the websites suggested last week. There are quite a few different comprehension challenges on the twinkl website so you can choose any one that interests you, just follow the links below.

Health and Wellbeing

  • pupils should try to keep active. Just Dance on youtube is a fun way of keeping moving. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UChIjW4BWKLqpojTrS_tX0mg
  • can you create a poster to thank our keyworkers? You may have already made rainbows and have them displayed in your house. There are many keyworkers e.g. NHS staff (doctors, nurses and other people who work in hospitals), police, firefighters etc.

Remember a poster should be eye catching, colourful and have interesting lettering. We would really like to see the finished ones!

Music

Mrs Taylor has been busy with some music ideas. Here are some you could do this week.

  • Sing – www.outoftheark.co.uk @home, Week 1 Move it Monday:

‘Start the day with exercise’

Practise verses 1, 2 and 3 which are first to make sure that you know them. Then carry on singing them one after another as a round (which is the second part of the song). Have a go at doing each group!

Do – In Youtube search for “nycos daily” (it stands for National Youth Choir of Scotland)

I’d like you to have a go at:        ‘Day 2: Have you ever, ever, ever’.

It’s good fun! And don’t forget you can pause it at any time and do it as many times as you want!

Listen – to “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik” by Mozart on Youtube

  • Remember to close your eyes and enjoy!
