P3/4M Home Learning Activities Week Beginning 25th May 2020

Hello parents, carers and pupils,

This week we thought it might be a bit of fun to have a ‘movie theme’. So all learning activities are based on a movie of your choice! Thank you to everyone who has been communicating with us via Glow email, Twitter and MS Teams. Please remember this is only a guide and our message is to do what you can, when you can. There is no expectation to complete all the activities as we are fully aware that everybody’s circumstances are different during these challenging times.

Movie Night Challenge

This week we would like you to organise a family movie night. Have fun getting the family together to enjoy a film in your very own ‘cinema’! Organise a film night for your family using the idea for a schedule attached.

Movie Night Challenge

Create a Film Poster for your Favourite Movie

A film poster is used to advertise a film. We would like you to design a poster for your favourite film. You can advertise the film anyway you want. You can illustrate your poster with actors or characters, famous scenes or even using famous quotes from your chosen film. Top tip – think about the main story/message from the film to help you.

Writing

This week for writing we would like you write your own plan for a movie. Try to be as creative as you can. We have included a table below to give you some ideas about what you might include in your plan!

Characters Think about who the goodies and baddies are in your movie.

What do they look like?

Where are they from?

What are their personalities like?

Why are they good or bad? Has something happened to them in the past to make them behave the way they do?

What do they sound like?

Setting and Time Is your movie set in the future, present or past?

Where is the movie set? Think about your favourite films to give you some ideas. Put down as many details as you can.

Plot What happens in your movie? It might help you to break it down into a beginning, middle and end. Does your movie have a happy ending or a ….to be continued!

Maths

Information Handling

This week we will continue to focus on gathering data and organising it within graphs and charts. This week we would like you to carry out a survey on which film your family would like to watch and which snack they would like to eat. You can extend this to family members who do not live in the same household but have access to the same movies if you wish – this will give you more results! Please complete your survey then present your data in bar graphs or pictograms. Answer the questions based on your results. Please see the attachment below.

Article 12 – Definition and Activities

Definition: Article 12 – Respect for the views of the child

Every child has the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously.

This right applies at all times, for example during immigration proceedings, housing decisions or the child’s day-to-day home life.

Mind Map: Thinking Question – What do you need to be heard?

Create a mind map of what you need to voice your opinion and be heard by others e.g. being properly listened to, your opinions are respected etc.

Task: Choose one of the following activities to complete:

1: Can you think of any stories or films in which children’s voices are really listened to and it makes a difference? If you think of one, tell somebody about it.

Or

2: Find out about a child or young person who made sure their voice was heard. You could choose Malala Yousafzai or Greta Thunberg or see if you can find out about somebody less well known.

Art

Would you like to follow in the steps of the great Disney animators? We have uploaded a folder in the file section of class teams that has a range of drawing tutorials to help you draw your favourite Disney and Marvel characters. This is a great, fun activity for a rainy day! Please share your drawings on Twitter and Teams, we would love to see them.
