P3/4M Home Learning Activities Week Beginning 18th May 2020

Hello parents, carers and pupils,

As we continue our distance learning we hope that everyone is keeping safe and well. Thank you to everyone who has been communicating with us via Glow email, Twitter and MS Teams. Please remember this is only a guide and our message is to do what you can, when you can. There is no expectation to complete all the activities as we are fully aware that everybody’s circumstances are different during these challenging times.

Pandas

This week we have attached a file with lots of information and activities about the endangered panda. Why not make your own poster explaining why pandas are endangered. Remember to include lots of colourful illustrations.

Writing

This week for writing we would like you to imagine that you have found a magic lamp in your garden, just like the one that Aladdin found. When you rub the lamp a magic genie appears and grants you three wishes. We would like you tell us what you would wish for and why.  Don’t forget to think about the reasons why, try to add as much detail as possible.

Maths – Data Handling

Collecting Data and Creating a Graph

This week we would like you to practise your Data Handling skills.

Your task this week is to go outside and look for signs of wildlife! Spend at least 30 minutes looking and listening. This can be carried out during your daily exercise or in your back garden.

  • Are there any domestic animals around (cats and dogs)?
  • Are there any insects flying around, hiding in the grass, or hidden under stones?
  • Can you see / hear any birds? Do you know the names of any birds you see or hear?
  • Are you lucky enough to see any rabbits / deer / foxes or badgers?

Use the skills you have learnt in class to make a record of the animals / wildlife you see.  Create a tally chart to record what wildlife you see. Will you use a pictograph or a bar chart to show your results? Remember all the important features of your graph/ chart (title, labelled x and y axis, a suitable scale and all information presented neatly and accurately). Finally, create/ answer3 questions based on your pictograph or bar chart. We have included some blank templates to use if you wish.

Governments must provide good quality health care, clean water, nutritious food, and a clean environment and education on health and well-being so that children can stay healthy.

Richer countries must help poorer countries achieve this.

 Learning Task:

  1. How many ideas can you think of to help you be healthy? Create a mind map of all your ideas e.g. getting enough sleep, eating a balanced diet etc…How many ideas did you think of?
  2. Create a poster of all the people who can help you stay healthy and safe. What are their job titles and what roles do they play in keeping you healthy and safe?  Write down your ideas and share your poster with someone at home.
