P2/3RM Home School Learning 25 May 20 – Week 7

Who are We?  P2/3!

What are We?  We’re a Team!

Where are We?  Not in school!

Why Stay Home? It’s a Lockdown Rule!

Hello again. Week Seven! Here are this week’s suggested learning activities:

Rights Respecting (Home-)School!

Bishopmill Primary School is a Rights Respecting School. This means we work to make sure children know what their rights are, and encourage children to remember and respect the rights of others.  Anyone over 18 is a ‘duty bearer’ which means they must help make sure children’s rights are upheld too. This poster gives a quick guide to what the articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child are. You will know some of them from our class charter and Articles of the Week.

With some advice from Mr O’Neill, we are going to continue with our Article of the Week as part of the suggested home learning activities we put out each Monday. This week, we focus on Article 14:

Reading and Writing:

As you can see, Article 14 gives children the right to follow their beliefs as long as no-one else’s rights are affected. The religion of Islam has just come to the end of their month of ‘Ramadan’, which ends with the festival called ‘Eid’. Have a look at this Powerpoint. Try to answer the quiz questions. Make some notes as you go along and then plan and write a report about the festival, with some pictures to help the reader understand the information better.

Challenge: Which parts of Ramadan and Eid would Muslim children not have been able to celebrate this year because of lockdown? Do you think that was fair? Why?

Maths:

This week, I have allocated games on HAM and practice work on Sumdog, all about Time and Money.

Health and Wellbeing:

Sometimes we need to focus on a simple, fun task to help us relax. Here is a link to some mindful colouring pages which you can print out and colour when you want to feel calm and escape into your own world for a little while.

Don’t forget to keep popping to Miss McNab’s page for the latest PE challenges and activities.

And Joe Wicks is back every morning at 9 o’clock with is latest workout on Youtube.

Health Week will be coming up later in June. Keep your eyes peeled on the Main website homepage for a new link that will keep you up to date with what we are planning for our first ever Health Week at Home.

Take Care Everyone, Hope to see you on Thursday for our Team chat and keep sharing your work and other stuff you’ve been up to in the chat or email or Twitter.

Bye for now!
