Hi everybody! Week 4 already. Today is Star Wars Day – ‘May the Fourth be with You!’. And Friday is VE Day – if you’re not sure what that stands for, then this week’s reading activity should help. Apologies to those who might have been looking out for my Ice Bucket Challenge – somehow I haven’t got round to it, yet… The glow class team is up and running now – lots of you have come on to chat and share what you’ve been up to. If you haven’t been on yet, go to last week’s page for instructions.
Reading:
This link will take you to a VE Day reading activity. There are three levels – challenge yourself to try the hardest one you can manage. And try not to look at the answer pages before you do! (I tried very hard to remove them but couldn’t). ve-day-differentiated-reading-comprehension-activity_ver_2
Writing/Topic:
This week it’s time to plan your Lighthouse story plot – what events are going to happen? How will your character react? What will they do? Why? How will you make it interesting for your reader? Does it make sense? Once you have some ideas, it’s time to let your imagination and your best WOW words loose and write an exciting Lighthouse adventure.
Maths:
I have set challenges on Sumdog for you to work on over this week. If you don’t know your login details then email me on Glow and I will pass them on.
Art and Design:
For Star Wars day, why not give this character design activity a go – I’d love to see pictures of what you all come up with. Star-Wars-Creature-Creator-Activity-Sheet
Health and Wellbeing:
Head over to Miss McNab’s new PE page for some suggested activities.
Being cooped up at home is never easy for anyone, whatever their age. Each day this week, I’d like you to spend a few minutes of quiet on your own just relaxing. Go to your room. Put on your favourite music (quietly). Close your eyes. Think about breathing slowly. In through your nose. Out through your mouth. Imagine a place where you feel totally safe. And totally chilled. As you breathe more slowly, your heart beat will slow down too. Falling asleep is allowed! Think about how it felt and, if you want to, tell me about it in the class Team chat. That goes for parents too!
Bye for now – hope to catch up on Glow or Twitter soon.
