Good morning P2/3. I hope you are all staying well and keeping busy – I know at least one P2 has been doing the ice-bucket challenge, which is fantastic except they nominated me in their video… look out for my ice-bucket challenge on the Twitter page later in the week.
This week we are introducing our class ‘Teams’. Microsoft Teams is a secure platform we are using to further improve communication between teachers, pupils, parents and carers. The package ‘Teams’ is available through pupils glow account that we previously encouraged you to register. You should have received a text about this. Please email the school if you do not have this.
If you have not registered yourself/your child onto Glow that you will need to do this before you can access Teams. Please follow the video below to register your pupils Glow account. If you have previously completed this, please read the next paragraph.

To access Teams – This page allows the class to use a chat room to speak directly with each other.

Reading:
The ice-bucket challenge is just a couple of seconds of discomfort. Sailors whose ships hit rocks might have been in the ice cold sea for hours – that’s why lighthouses are so important to warn them when land is near. Choose one of these reading jobs for this week. You can just answer the questions on a piece of paper or print it out if you are able to.

Writing:
Over the next few weeks, I’d like you to work on your own lighthouse story. This week, make a plan of your main character and then write a description in sentences. Your character could be a sailor, a lighthouse-keeper, the lighthouse-keeper’s dog or, if you feel like a real challenge, you could write as if you were the lighthouse itself – what describing words might be good to let the reader know about your appearance and personality?
Maths:
I have allocated some multiplication and division problem sheets to your HAM accounts – work through them as far as you can but don’t worry if you can’t manage them all.

Health and Wellbeing:
If you are not tuning into Joe Wickes’ daily PE workouts, try making up your own mini exercise circuit – you could include sit-ups, star jumps, planks, step-ups, standing jumps – or anything else you have space for. Set a 2 minute timer for each station, count your total for each exercise, and see if you can increase your numbers by the end of the week.
Music:
Here is Mrs Taylor’s music lesson for this week. B¬)
Do YouTube:
“Body Beats – online body percussion session, Tuesday 24/03/20”
Unfortunately, as Ollie’s lessons are becoming more popular (they were shown on BBC’s ‘The One Show” recently) they are now being targeted by advertisers on YouTube – a really annoying advert appeared in the middle of the video when I watched it – however it doesn’t last long, so bear with it!
This session focuses on ‘off-beats’, which sound really good when you do them, but can actually be quite tricky to perform. This session/video only lasts 10 minutes in total, however you WILL need to do the whole thing a number of times as there is so much included!
Listen/ One of the musicians who Ollie mentions in the clip when he is talking
Sing about Reggae music is Bob Marley. So…..in Youtube look up:
“Bob Marley – don’t worry about a thing”
…….which I think is a fantastic song given our current situation! Try and listen out for the ‘1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and’, and if you’d like to have a good old sing-song search for:
“Bob Marley Every Little Thing Is Gonna Be Alright LYRICS”
Take care and have a great week,
Mr Risk B¬)
