Today UNA discussed previous citizenship activities and collated for Mr McLeman.  This allowed us to see what we still need to focus on and take forward this session.

We looked at the Global Goals website and discussed current news issues.  Pupils were particularly intrigued by the first vegan trainers being made in partnership with Stella McCartney.  Animals rights explored.

Pupils spoke to each business group regarding  campaigning locally for the safety of children in Alves.  This should link to the theme of the business groups they are in.  UNA

To do list…

ABCDE rights assembly – get dates and create

Learn about Goal 16

Business group remits (4 goals and articles linked to their group and action plan)

Parent council / Alves Hall Committee – speak with representatives

Rotakids – continue on new journey and create plans

P3-7 pupils in UNA to type up minutes weekly. Rotation agreed

Literacy and Numeracy stations

November 21, 2018 by Mrs Blair | Comments Off on Literacy and Numeracy stations

Each day your child will be engaged in short free flow learning activities to support and enhance learning. This helps support retrieval learning and transitions them into main teaching sessions within Literacy and Numeracy. The children enjoy these sessions as they get the chance to embed skills learnt during teaching slots, they can challenge themselves on tasks they found difficult or simply work with a partner to challenge each other. It is such a good opportunity for the children to explore and discuss their learning informally with staff and peers. They are very good at building each others confidence and giving positive praise to one another during this time. Social learning opportunities are essential in classrooms to build and sustain positive learning and development.

September 27, 2018 by Mrs Blair | Comments Off on P1/2 take advantage of the wet weather

P1/2 wanted to play in the wet weather today.  What a great opportunity to make our own boats and investigate floating.  Very happy (wet 🙂 ) children today!
