Senses activities and visitors

We have been learning about our senses and what it might be like if our senses don’t work as well as they should. We had two visitors in class to help us understand what that might be like. Mrs Piper joined us to talk about Visual Impairment and Mrs Thornhill talked to us about British Sign Language. We also played games where we had to use our senses to work out a problem or solve a puzzle. We even had a go at Goal Ball.

Measuring

P1 have been measuring and estimating this week. Using different equipment we have been weighing objects and measuring water. We are learning to use words such as- heavy heavier heaviest, light lighter lightest, holds more holds less. There was a lot of good thinking and talking going on in the classroom!

Planting and growing

As part of our learning we were thinking about living and non living things. Primary One grew seeds- grass seed and cress seed. Some seeds had all the right conditions- the needs of the seed and some did not. Look at our yellow grass -it grew in the cupboard!
