Boys and girls from P4-7 have certainly shown resourcefulness when given challenges to try in different outdoor locations. They have made shelters for pine cone families, created mini worlds, played games and built structures. They have enjoyed different walking partners each week, having conversations about favourite outdoor activities, places they’ve been to and sharing stories of getting lost! It is lovely to see how well children of different ages get along with each other.
Talented at Tops
Kodu is a new visual programming language made specifically for creating games. It is designed to be accessible for children and enjoyable for anyone. It is free to download onto a computer, and some of the children have been learning how to use it in TOPS.

Running Club on a Wintry St Andrew’s Day
A number of Primary 4 children have been coming to story club after school on a Monday. They are enjoying listening to stories, chatting about books and getting the chance to read lots of books. Jack Stalwart:Secret Agent, Flat Stanley, Billionaire Boy, The Twits, Horrid Henry, Astrasaurs are some of the titles that are very popular!

Outdoor Exploration
So far the Outdoor Exploration TOPS group have been to Helga’s Hole and Sanquhar Pond. We have identified trips, slips, dogs, water, sharp things and getting lost as risks and we have talked through how to keep ourselves safe.
Cricket Awards Ceremony
On Thursday 12th November, six of last years cricket team went through to Milnes High School, Fochabers to an awards ceremony. David Spencer, Scott Perry, Max Carty, Isla Brain, Bethany Young and Joe Jones collected the Bronze Award Certificate for their contribution to entry level cricket and the schools promotion of cricket. Well done.
Bulb Planting
On Thursday 12th November we went to meet Mrs Macgregor and Mrs Maclennan outside the museum to help Forres In Bloom plant bulbs in the containers there. The children worked in threes on a container and really enjoyed this. They are looking forward to seeing the bulbs flower in the spring.
