Here we are, cheeks a glowing, after our Daily Mile.
P2 Forces
We have been learning about forces. We started by looking at types of forces (push, pull, twist, stretch, and bend).
Then we talked about friction and how it causes heat (when we rub our hands together) and how it can slow objects.
We predicted that a car would travel slower on grass than pavement due to friction. We were correct!
Christmas Dinner
A big well done to Mrs Maclennan and staff in the kitchens, who served up 250+ delicious Turkey dinners today. The boys and girls were very appreciative and polite, with lots of pleases and thank you’s. The older pupils were a great help with serving the younger pupils. This year the workmen joined us in the dining hall for Christmas Dinner, somehow managing to have their own jug of gravy at their table!

Outdoors in December
Ayan creates a Christmas tree using natural materials.
Leon and Sean worked together to create their Christmas Tree.
Kai and Matthew Filled in their Christmas Tree with dry, crunchy leaves.
Outdoor Explorers TOPS group have been able to get outside every Thursday to explore local wild spaces. We have been to Sanquhar Pond, Helga’s Hole, Nelson’s Tower and different parts of Cluny Hill. The children take part in risk assessment of the area before they go off to explore and create.
Numeracy Meets Christmas
P1 learning about ‘big numbers’
P2 are using the signs ‘greater than’ and ‘less than’.
P3 have been working with ‘fractions’
P4 are studying ‘time’ in numeracy.
P5 made a fun bar chart in ‘data handling’.
P6 have been looking at ‘scale’ as part of measurement in numeracy.
P7 are working with ‘weight’ as part of measurement.
Christmas Trees
P4FL made little Christmas tree decorations to sell at the Christmas Fair. We used clay and then painted it and the pine cones. Some of our trees have more glitter on them than others!
Les Bonhommes de Neige (Snowmen)
6W wonder where their handmade, cheeky looking snowmen, will end up on Saturday…On sale at Applegrove Christmas Fair!
Any profit made from the sale of the snowmen will be used to buy some goodies to go to the Forres Gazette office. These can then be given as Christmas presents to someone considered in need of some Christmas cheer.
Christmas Fair Face Painting
P7 would like to invite you to come along to the Christmas Fair and get festive by having your face painted in a Christmas theme. We do everything from candy canes to reindeer noses. All designs cost £1. We look forward to seeing you there.
Christmas Fair Tree Decorations
P7H have been very busy making Christmas tree decorations to sell at this Saturday’s Christmas Fair. Please visit the class stalls and have a look. Our wooden snowflake decorations are on sale for £2 each and we have cardboard flower decorations for 30p each.
