Happy St Andrew’s Day
The pupils were looking ‘fair braw ‘ this morning when they came to school to celebrate St Andrew’s Day with a ‘touch o tartan’. 4/5C started off our day with a heartfelt rendition of ‘Scotland the Brave’ then 4C presented an assembly all about St Andrew and why he is important to Scots today. Many thanks for all the Chocolate which you kindly sent in – it will allow us to set up delicious ‘chocolate chances’ stall at the Christmas Fair on Saturday 10th December.
Glasgow Badminton
Some P7s had the opportunity to travel to Glasgow to the Emirates Arena on Sunday to join Aidan Matthews as part of his prize for winning a National competition. Aidan’s designed the winning Mascot for the 2017 Badminton World Cup and he and his classmates attended the Finals of the Scottish Open Championships on Sunday where the real life mascot was revealed to a large crowd in the main Arena. Pupils also got the chance to take part in sports activities run by Badminton Scotland in The Chris Hoy Velodrome before watching the mixed doubles and women’s singles finals. They even met some famous famous during the day and took part in a ‘mannequin challenge’. The children had a blast and were very proud of Aidan’s achievement – a long journey and a long day but definitely worth it for a super experience.

Fractions
We have been learning how to partition shapes into halves, quarters and some children have also split shapes into eighths.
We did this practically using strips of paper. We also used plasticine and physically cut it up with plastic knives.
We have learned about equivalent fractions and have learned that one half is the same as 2 quarters or 4 eighths.
We also have been halving numbers and linking this to doubles.

Harvest Time
Many thanks to all of you who sent in generous gifts for our Harvest celebrations. These will be packaged up and given to Senior Citizens in the local community.
We had a lovely afternoon on Wednesday at our Senior Citizens’ Harvest Tea. Thank you to P1, P4FL , P5N and the P6/7 choir who all performed to our visitors. We have had some lovely letters of thanks saying how much they enjoyed it.
