P7H went in to the school grounds to create transient art pieces. Before going outdoors they studied the work Andy Goldsworthy, a British artist who collaborates with nature to makes his creations. Like Andy Goldsworthy, they worked with whatever came to hand: twigs, leaves, stones, moss etc.

Forces at Grant Park
P7H accompanied Primary 1 to Grant Park to assist them with their learning context ‘Swings and Roundabouts’. Both classes are studying forces, so this was an ideal opportunity for the P7s to help the P1s understand the forces push and pull as well as think about their own gravity, friction and air resistance studies. The children were split in to three groups – forces at work in the play park, gravity experiments at the chestnut tree and a game of tug of war on the grass to investigate friction. Great fun was had by all!
Global Warming, Outdoor Learning
As part of our context for learning, P7H have been studying global warming. We investigated the causes, the impact and how we can prevent it. After this investigation we took our learning into the playground to present our understanding. We were split into groups and used different materials to make displays. These were presented to each other and peer assessed. This really helped to embed our learning as well developing our collaborative skills.
