Stop Press!

Today P7H met the Press and Journal competition deadline by making up some newspaper front pages.  First we learnt about the features of a front page which included the mast piece, teaser, adverts and jumps.  We then went in to groups and collaborated to make up a story and news in brief.  We could choose to write about fictitious or factual events and when completed they varied from natural disasters, netball victories and escaping elephants!  This fun activity helped us to learn more about journalism and develop our skills for success.

 

Meeting a Deadline for Real!

Pupils in primary 6 and primary 7 have taken part in a competition being run by the Press and Journal.  A study of what makes for a good front page has been made by reading real editions of the P and J.  News – stories, headlines, advertisements, teasers, use of columns and layout have all been considered…
