What is BYOD?
Pupils at St Columba’s High School have access to a wifi network, which allows them to bring their own devices to school, with free access to internet based resources. The wifi network is currently under development and at present, only browser based activities can be accessed (apps are not currently supported). Inverclyde Council are reviewing these restrictions and it is hoped that mobile devices will be better supported in the near future.
BYOD Security
Any pupil wishing to access the BYOD network must sign a user agreement before gaining access. Pupil are required to input their school computer login when connected to the network and any activity is closely monitored by Inverclyde IT services.
Accessing the BYOD network
Any pupil wishing to use their laptop in school must complete an initial setup process at home. The following videos explain how to access the BYOD wifi network.
The password for the network is available from Mr Stoddart or Mr McLean.
